Personal Experience & Biography
Mohamed Al Marzooqi is the Chairman of ALMC and a registered arbitrator with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation, Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC) and the Ajman Arbitration Centre. He is a UAE national with rights of audience before the Dubai Courts and the Ministry of Justice, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
He has submitted hundreds of expert opinions on technical and UAE law matters before the UAE Courts, and his practice today is increasingly weighted towards international arbitration and mediation, which extends beyond his original expert-witness base towards arbitral appointments in construction, engineering, energy and real estate disputes. An electrical engineer by training, Mr. Al Marzooqi earned his BSc from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma (1986). His early career combined public-sector infrastructure delivery in Dubai with privatesector leadership across real estate and development in the UAE, Oman and Egypt i.e., a grounding in both engineering judgment and commercial leadership that now shapes his approach as arbitrator.
He is currently a PhD candidate at the British University in Dubai (BUiD), researching arbitration, mediation, dispute settlement, and the development of AI governance frameworks for arbitration centres and UAE governmental authorities, building on an earlier Master’s degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution, completed at BUiD with King’s College London. His practice today is deliberately weighted towards international arbitration and mediation, extending beyond his original expert-witness base towards appointments and prospective panel work before regional and international institutions, including such bodies as the DIFC-LCIA framework, the Mauritius International Arbitration Centre (MCIA), SIAC, ICC and LCIA.

Suggested title: “Why Arbitration Needs Its Own AI Governance Framework and Why We’re Researching One” Artificial intelligence is already inside the arbitration process, from case management tools to AI-assisted arbitrator selection, yet no arbitral institution currently operates a dedicated AI governance framework of its own. Data-protection regulators in free zones such as the DIFC have begun to regulate autonomous systems directly; arbitration itself has not yet caught up. ALMC’s Chairman, Mohamed Al Marzooqi, is addressing that gap directly through his PhD research at the British University in Dubai, which examines arbitration, mediation and dispute settlement alongside the design of AI governance frameworks for arbitration centers and government authorities. The goal: research that can be published internationally, and a governance model concrete enough for arbitral institutions to actually adopt. We’ll be sharing milestones from this research, literature reviews, working papers, and eventually the proposed framework.
